What is Semax?
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from residues 4-7 of ACTH, extended with Pro-Gly-Pro. Retains neurotropic effects without engaging the melanocortin/cortisol system.
Research mechanism
Published research has examined the following mechanisms:
- BDNF expression — effects in hippocampal and cortical tissue in animal models.
- NGF-related pathways — interaction with nerve growth factor signaling.
- Enkephalin degradation modulation.
- Ischemic protection — substantial research in cerebral ischemia models.
Note: All mechanism data is from published research. Not FDA-approved for human use.
Physical properties & handling
Reconstitute 5 mg with 1.0 mL bacteriostatic water. Very slight yellow tint is normal. Refrigerate; use within 28 days.
