Research overview

Bacteriostatic Water (BAC Water) — 10 mL

Sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. BAC Water is the standard diluent used to reconstitute lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptide vials for research applications. The benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth, allowing a single vial to be punctured multiple times safely over 28 days when stored properly.

Standard Reconstitution Protocol

  1. Gather materials: Peptide vial, BAC water vial, insulin syringes (1 mL), alcohol swabs.
  2. Clean both vial stoppers with a fresh alcohol swab. Allow to air-dry.
  3. Draw BAC water: Pull the recommended volume into the syringe.
  4. Inject slowly: Insert needle at an angle and direct BAC water down the side of the peptide vial — do NOT inject directly onto the powder.
  5. Dissolve gently: Swirl the vial slowly in a circular motion. Do NOT shake. Allow 1–2 minutes for full dissolution.
  6. Inspect: Solution should be clear and colorless. Do not use if cloudy or particulate is visible.
  7. Label and store: Label vial with date. Refrigerate at 2–8°C. Use within 28 days.

Storage Guidelines

  • Unreconstituted vials: Store at 2–8°C (refrigerator). Protect from light.
  • Reconstituted vials: Refrigerate at 2–8°C. Use within 28 days. Do not freeze reconstituted solution.
  • Long-term storage: Lyophilized peptides may be stored frozen (−20°C) for up to 12 months. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
